Blackberry Farm located in Walland, TN, 45 minutes from Knoxville, is a food lovers vacation. It embodies the dream combination of luxury amenities, local and exceptional food, and a Southern experience built around agriculture and activities set against the Great Smoky Mountains.
In a choose your own adventure style, you can opt to spend your days at the fabulous Wellhouse spa, enjoying a culinary-slanted treatment such as a lavender and vanilla bourbon body drench. Begin your day with a yoga or barre class or go for a hike in the mountains. For more active pursuits, there is fly fishing, clay shooting, horseback riding, and archery, to name a few. If you want a deeper understanding of the strong agriculture program at the Farm, I highly recommend the Farmstead Tasting Tour where guests learn about the heirloom seed program and the cheese and beer production as well as the American grown truffle program complete with Blackberry Farm bred truffle hunting dogs.
Once you've worked up your appetite, you can enjoy your meals either at The Barn, a more formal and elaborate affair, or at Dogwood restaurant. The focus at both restaurants is on refined yet rustic regional cuisine utilizing ingredients provisioned from the farm and nearby purveyors. My personal preference was dinner at Dogwood, where the food was relaxed, but at least one meal at the stunning Barn is a must. We had the opportunity to visit during the holidays where things were extremely festive. However, I truly believe visiting Blackberry Farm anytime of year would be fabulous.
If you have the budget, spending a few days as a couple or a family at Blackberry Farm makes for an unforgettable, unique vacation. It is rare to find the perfect combination of exceptional food, fabulous service, beautiful amenities, and a generous assortment of crowd pleasing activities. Yet, what sets Blackberry Farm apart is its deep focus on Southern hospitality paired with homegrown ingredients and gorgeous sweeping countryside.
